Laying slabs cut consecutively from the same block in mirror symmetry turns the wall into a single-piece painting.

What Is Bookmatching? Butterfly-Pattern Slab Application

How is it done?

The block is sliced into thin slabs on the gangsaw machine. When two consecutive slabs are opened like the pages of a book, the veins form mirror images of each other. When four slabs are used, the pattern becomes symmetrical both horizontally and vertically; this is called a 4-way butterfly layout.

What should you pay attention to?

For bookmatching, the slabs must come from the same block and in cutting sequence; for this reason the slabs are numbered when they are crated. Stones with pronounced, directional veining give the strongest effect.

Sharing your wall dimensions and your joint preference before ordering ensures that the slabs are selected accordingly.
